This is the poem that got it all started.  I was either a senior or junior in college (1995-1996?) and I was fired up in disgust about the way some humans think.  I was walking to study out in the cool air and this came out of me as fast as I could write it.  Looking back, I think it’s the first time I had the realization with clarity how awful humans can be, and what a (temporary) feeling of hopelessness and disgust it can stun you into.  The train of thought in the poem is probably what perpetuates stupidity, but hopefully to have awareness of these thought germs spreading, we can help reduce ugliness in human actions.  These ideas are elusive like the viruses we can’t see, but they are clearly trying to spread.  We can’t end the common cold, but we can try and battle to minimize it’s spread.

Stagnation

I wish I could change
I could rearrange:
You
How dumb can you be?
I wish you were all more like me
Intelligent enough to see…
How stupid you really are!
I’m all you should want to be…and more
I’m so rich, you’re so poor
Such inferiority, it must be weak genetics
You’re so pathetic
Please do us a favor and consider suicide
An easy glide
Slide that blade right through your throat
I don’t mean to gloat
But it could end our misery
I’m so sorry for my lack of sympathy
But you’re so low, I don’t know
If you are worthy of the constitution?
An amendment should be made
That there is no effort to save a waste like you
Life, liberty, and the pursuit of misery
I’ll perpetuate hate,
I’ll keep this country great!
Throw a steak on the grill, pop a pill
Clog my arteries, like a broken cog of society
Throw on a white suit and burn a cross
Do it for the Homies, it’s not my loss
Suck out a fetus, stuff the old folks in a home
Blow away a buffalo, he’s got no place to roam
Pop in a porno, rape the girl
Male bashing, gay bashing, give it a whirl
Like father, like son
It ain’t gonna change
Just be an asshole
We’re all numb to the pain
Stagnation, stagnation, addicted to pain
