Nostalgia is Neuralgia
Forget nostalgia,
I’m not in the past,
Thinking back might as well be neuralgia
Change is the only thing that will last
Some forget good times were always laced with turmoil
And I recommended that too
But I popped those demons like a boil
Even when they tried to take me down like a 105 degree flu
Sing out loud and drown out those dark, dreary, whispers
They’ll take you down like you’re in water tied to lead,
Cut that shit out like a sharp new razor blade on whiskers
Don’t let ghosts of sorrow take up one tiny spark of electricity in your head
Don’t fill with sadness to your own demise
“We had some good times, we did”
My Grandma would say through sad eyes,
Like a prayer to change the past, a futile bid
I wrote some mediocre poems with good rhymes
So I’ll just write some more
I feel your softness come through like wooden wind chimes
Being with you now is the score
Because now is the most important time ever
The way kindness is best thing to express
The septic umbilicus to the past we need to sever
And replace it with compassion and love’s caress
"Nostalgia is a file that removes the rough edges from the good old days."-Doug Larson
