No God, Still Good

At the end of the day I like to see you smile

And at the end of this life, I’d like to have all those on file.

Play back all the smiles and laughs to see one more time,

Hope that that movie would take a great deal of time,

Bask in one final glow, like one glorious sunset,

Try to take all that energy and erase all of regret.

And every morning, and each night, I’d like to say “I love you”

And add up all that energy to stage one final coup,

To seal a doomed fate for all that is hate.

Hope that the love energy could live on and predominate.

And everyday I ask you to do something kind,

Maybe just a few moments in your daily life grind,

And pray that it spreads like pollen, for flowers in humanity.

To rise above the weeds of ignorance, and bigoted insanity

And every time you eat, be grateful for all you’ve been given.

Even though we suffer, know that life is still worth living.

Because if there’s no God

No meaning

No point.

If all you believe in,

Is nothing...a falsehood…

It is my contention that to be good

Is still good.
